At the beginning of his artistic career, Gamarra worked on large monochrome canvases entirely made of matter, composed of pre-Columbian signs and symbols. Later, he switched to smooth, flat surfaces, his palette became richer, with a variety of colors and greens typical of Amazonian landscapes. The most distinctive feature of it is the precision of its stroke. The landscape in his work evokes a wide range of historical periods. The jungle reveals different cultural influences as well as the clash of civilizations. His works reflect a strong historical consciousness.
